Candlelit Yin & Nidra at Marpole
Unwind at the end of the day with our Candlelit Yin & Nidra class. We’ll start with calming Yin poses, held gently to release tension and ease the body into a state of relaxation. From there, you’ll be guided through Yoga Nidra, often called “yogic sleep,” a meditation practice that settles the mind, soothes the nervous system, and leaves you feeling completely at ease.
ā
Many of our students say they walk out feeling calm, centred, and ready for a great night’s sleep. It’s the perfect midweek reset and a beautiful way to close your evening.

What is Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice where each posture is held for several minutes. Instead of focusing on strength or fast transitions, Yin works into the deeper layers of the body such as the connective tissues, joints and fascia, helping to improve flexibility and mobility over time.
ā
It is especially supportive if you are recovering from an injury, experiencing stiffness, or simply feeling tight in certain areas. The longer holds allow you to release tension gradually and safely, giving the body space to open up without strain.
ā
Because of its stillness and emphasis on breath, Yin Yoga is the perfect balance to more dynamic practices like Flow or Power Yoga. It gives the body time to recover, helps the mind slow down, and leaves you with a sense of deep relaxation that you can carry into the rest of your week.

Benefits of Yin Yoga
-
Release physical and mental tension – Long-held poses gently open up tight areas and calm your nervous system, leaving you feeling lighter and more at ease.
-
Improve flexibility and joint mobility – Target connective tissues and fascia to gradually increase your range of motion and support long-term joint health.
-
Support recovery from other workouts – Perfect as a restorative practice to balance out running, gym training, or more intense yoga classes.
-
Enhance mindfulness and relaxation – Slow, meditative holds help you connect with your breath and quiet your mind.
-
Reduce stress and support better sleep – Deep relaxation techniques promote restfulness, making it easier to unwind and sleep well.
